With an elevation of 1864m, Huangshan is the standout destination in Anhui province. This is one of China’s most famous mountain ranges. An easy hike, with paved stairs all the way and a cableway to get from peak to peak.
/ emerald valley scenic spot
With unbelievable hues of blue and green, Emerald Valley is situated at the South Gate of the scenic area and offers an easy walk through forests alongside the flowing water.

Day 1
From Huangshan North Railway Station you can get a bus or take a taxi/Didi to your accommodation (bus availability subject to season).
Take bus to South Gate (Xinguoxian Yellow Mountains Scenic Area Bus Station)
The South Gate of Huangshan scenic area has many guesthouses – the area is peaceful, with a few restaurants and the entrance into Emerald Valley Scenic Spot.

Upon arrival, go explore the scenic area. The fields nearby are littered with bright yellow rape seed flowers. Walk up the path that leads to the Emerald Valley Scenic Area.

End the day with a local meal in one of the restaurants at the bottom of the valley. Don’t forget to try a Huangshan beer!
Day 2
Wake up early and arrange for someone to drop you off at the gate that’s open (depending on season maintenance) so best to get advice from your accommodation.
Depending on where you start, you’ll take the cable way up and follow the route. Refer to the map below, but generally the path will take you on a full circle of the peaks.
Make sure you don’t miss the last cable way down or you’ll get stuck on the mountain.
If you stay on top of the mountain, Lion’s Peak is said to have the best sunrise/sunset opportunities.

Finally you’ll be greeted with local restaurants at the end of the cable way. Have dinner there as you’ll be knackered from the day and then get a taxi/Didi back to your accommodation.
Day 3
Head to Tunxi Old Street in the Ancient City.
You can get local buses 1, 2, 8, 9, or 19 from the South Gate to Huangshan City.
1.5 hour drive
Tunxi Old Street is a typical ancient Chinese area.
Here you’ll find delicious local food, finger/palm paintings, souvenirs and more. This city area is built close to the Xin’an River which serves as a lovely stroll location.
There are more mountains nearby where you could go for a few hours.
Stay the night or head to the Railway Station/Airport.
